Art-A-Whirl, presented by the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, is the largest open studio and gallery tour in the United States. It is a highly anticipated annual event that welcomes local and regional visitors to the Arts District in Northeast Minneapolis to see the art being made in this area and to meet the artists. As visitors come to see the art over the three-day weekend they also experience the unique and welcoming community of Northeast Minneapolis.

 

 

 

 

Caitlin Karolczak: Annual AAW Open Studio.

Many of Caitlin's most recent work will be shown at Rogue Buddha during art-a-whirl BUT Her studio will still be open to the public during AAW hours. Please stop by to see some in-process work and a selection of other paintings & drawings.

Icons for the Bereaved: Traditions and Artifacts of Mourning

Exhibit Opening

This much anticipated exhibition examines our rich traditions of bereavement and mourning as seen through photographs, mourning garments, jewelry, and furnishings c. 1850s to present.

The exhibition will feature the private post mortem photograph collections of artist Caitlin Karolczak as well as a very special look at her interpretive paintings and drawings.

Admission: Members: Free, Adults: $5, Seniors and kids $1

The Spring Issue presents the compelling work of nearly 50 international photographers in response to the issue’s theme, WATER. Also included is an interview with photographer Traer Scott in a conversation that concentrates on her series The Hungry Ghost—images that combine figures, water and mythology. Rounding-out the issue is a fascinating piece on Early Postmortem and Memorial Photography featuring the collection of Caitlin Karolczak.
